IAS Ramesh Kumar Jangid: An Inspiring Journey from Village Roots to Presidential Honour

Ramesh Kumar Jangid is a truly inspiring personality who rose from a modest rural background to become a distinguished officer in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). He was born on August 10, 1979, and resident of Bhiad in Barmer district of Rajasthan. Belonging to the Jangid community, his early life was filled with challenges and limited resources, but he remained committed to education and hard work from the beginning.

Ramesh Kumar is a 2011 batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan–Jammu & Kashmir cadre. Throughout his career, he has held many important administrative positions. Notably, during his tenure as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, he made a remarkable impact in the field of water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and environmental sustainability.

His dedication and outstanding service were nationally recognized when he was honoured by the then President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, in 2022. This award was presented under the Ministry of Jal Shakti for his contributions to water management. The award ceremony was also attended by Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Jammu & Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Currently, he serves as the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu and also holds the position of Additional CEO of Jammu Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (JMRDA).
