IAS Shri Subhash Chandra Sharma was born on 17th February 1966 in Maujpur village, Laxmangarh Tehsil of Alwar district, Rajasthan. His father, Shri Suraj Prasad Ji, was engaged in traditional carpentry and agriculture in his ancestral village and actively participated in social reform activities. His mother, Smt. Chameli Devi, is a religious and duty-bound woman. Among five siblings, Shri Subhash Chandra is the youngest.
He received his early education in his native village Maujpur, where he completed his 10th standard. For higher studies, he moved to Alwar, completing his 12th from Yashwant School and then earned his graduation in Hindi, Sanskrit, and Economics from Government Adarsh College. Later, he completed his post-graduation in Sanskrit, securing the second position at Rajasthan University. From the beginning, he was known as a meritorious student, consistently ranking among the top throughout his academic journey.
Apart from academics, Shri Sharma was also actively involved in sports and cultural activities. He had a deep interest in hockey, cricket, badminton, and horse riding. He also participated in singing competitions and enjoyed performing on stage.
After completing his education, he initially served in the Department of Telecommunications from 1990 to 1994. However, his ultimate aspiration was to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). With focused preparation and dedication, he succeeded and was selected for the IAS in 1996, allotted to the Uttar Pradesh cadre.
Throughout his career, he held several key administrative positions, including Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Etah, Azamgarh, and Mathura, and Chief Development Officer (CDO) in Allahabad. He served as Special Secretary in departments such as Animal Husbandry, Civil Supplies, and Industrial Development in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. From 2002 to 2012, he served as District Magistrate in major districts like Kannauj, Kushinagar, Mau, Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, Budaun, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Moradabad, Shahjahanpur, Bahraich, and Bareilly. He also served as Secretary in the Home Department of the Uttar Pradesh Government, based in Lucknow.
Currently, Shri Sharma resides in Lucknow with his wife Smt. Sushila Devi, son, and daughter. His life journey is a source of immense pride for the Jangid Brahmin community, and an inspiration for youth across the nation. His dedication, determination, and discipline prove that strong values and consistent efforts lead to greatness.
